Book Fair – Kelly McGlaughlin reported books to arrive tomorrow; fair to be located in Mr. Underkoffler’s

old classroom.  Hours of operation shared and sign up sheets made available.

Box Tops – Gayle Pletcher reported on behalf of Cindie Sheesley:  collecting and counting was encouraged.

Campbells Soup Labels – Angie Harvey provided update; asked that teacher’s names be labled on bags in office.

Also reinforced need for just the code – with the Campbell’s face – to be on each trimmed label.  12/1 will be the

full credit deadline.  One class per grade will win a pizza party.

Fundraising – Erinn Gramly addressed February 2007’s Spellathon.  Acknowledged committee is already in the

planning stages for this primary fundraiser in light of the loss of 4th Grade fundraising results from years’ past.

Also spoke of the insignia sale proposed for the Spring.

Memory Book – Angie Harvey spoke on behalf of Polly Hornig. Encouraged everyone to get orders in before 11/21.

personal prints.  Memory Book committee meeting announced for Thursday 11/30 at 7 pm.

Related Arts – Sue Ellen Spotts in process of coordinating; Jessica Cohen reported she knew some artists had been

lined up.

Room Parents – Rita Griffith highlighted the opportunity for interested parties to volunteer for teachers in

classrooms, even if they were not picked as Room Parents.  Reported the Open House went smoothly.  Announced

the classroom holiday parties will be on 12/22 at 2:30.

Safe Kids – Smart Choices – Kelly Walter reported on her and Jessica Cohen’s meeting with Chief Bickhart on

this new committee.  Input from the Chief has shaped this former Block Parent committee into an exploration

of safety education as well as a first step toward bringing a volunteer presence of the town’s police into the

Elementary school in an educational outreach.  Paul Reeder encouraged this idea.  Further steps to be determined

at the next committee meeting.

Santa’s Secret Workshop – Deb Schley reported very positively on area business’ participation in preparation for

the workshop.  She would like to see a formal recognition of them in Mifflinburg’s News and Views.  Sign up

sheets for volunteers were made available and many members responded positively to Deb’s idea of packaging

gift sets for the children, notably oven mitts with cooking implements.  Set up to start Tuesday evening, 12/14

at 4:30 pm.

School Appreciation – Gayle Pletcher asked for more volunteers on Friday, November 11 during Parent-Teacher

conferences.  Soup, sandwich and dessert will be served to the teachers.

Sunshine Fund Gayle Pletcher requested people to please share news for acknowledgement through this

committee whenever possible.  Reported a gift certificate was presented to Mrs. Randecker for her retirement.

Web Design – Duane Snayberger shared the committee has been meeting regularly.  An HSA web page is under

development, with hopes of a link eventually to the district web page.  Teachers and parents alike strongly expressed

an interest in being able to email each other once teacher’s receive their district email addresses.
